March Habits + Catching Up
I’ve been meaning to update you on my March habits and goals. I mentioned in the last blog that I was going to focus on a little catch-up of sorts. Looking back at the past 2 months, I wanted to revisit habits I’d been having trouble sticking to. The habits that I felt I was close to mastering but fell off a little. This is a little harder than you think because it’s not just the habits that didn't stick. Some habits didn't stick for a reason so I’ve had to take some time to think. I had to ask myself, “which habits do I want to incorporate in my daily life?” and “Which habits are not for me?” More than I have ever thought I could, I’ve learned “time is precious” these past 7 months with Jackson. I have very little time to do things for myself so I’m ruthless when it comes to editing out what isn’t worth it.
I know for sure that movement and being outside is super important to me. The habit of moving every day for 20 minutes and going outside for a walk fit so well together. Sometimes my movement is a little 15-20 minute flow with Melissa Wood Health AND a walk outside and sometimes it’s just the walk outside. I love that my walks can incorporate Jackson. They have become one of my favorite parts of my day. Any way you can make movement fun and something to look forward to is a big green light.
Less sugar is another obvious habit to stick with and revisit. I feel so much better when I cut it out or at least down. This Lent I gave up soda and I thought it would be hard. I really love a rum coke on a Friday night, but I’ve stuck with it and it's been surprisingly easier than in the past. It's much less daunting than saying I'm giving up all sugar. I think starting with one small habit (like cutting out soda) is a great way to make quitting sugar (a huge habit) more digestible.
This month I also really want to focus on working on my lymph system. Habits like dry brushing, oil massage, and legs up the wall pose really make a difference for me when I practice them daily. I’m focusing on doing one of them daily right now. This is definitely one of those tasks that gets put to the side when I'm exhausted and out of time, but I want to make a serious effort but I do notice a difference in my mood, skin tone, and energy when I do these things.
Ok, I have 15 minutes before Jackson wakes up from a nap so gotta go, see you next week!
